BS Agricultural and Applied Economics, University of Wisconsin – Madison, 2018

Liam Hutchison is a former research specialist with the Jahn Research Group. He holds a B.S. from UW-Madison in Agricultural and Applied Economics, with academic interests ranging across the social and environmental sciences. His senior capstone project examined the intersections of climate change and consumer behavior through a study of America’s advertising industry and the social norms it helps create.

Professor Jahn’s course, The Systems View of Life, was an eye-opening inflection point in Liam’s undergraduate education, and systems perspectives have been essential to his intellectual growth ever since. Beginning in January of 2018, his work with the Jahn Research Group has focused on the multilayered interactions of food systems, climate change and governance.

As an essential counterpoint to broad-view academic research, Liam engages in systems change at a local level. Specifically, he is involved with movements toward sustainability and justice on matters of education, race and environment.
